Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes conduct that is prohibited on RentGuard, operated by Vouchzen Technologies Limited. It applies to every tenant, landlord, lawyer, and visitor. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, reversal of pending Paystack settlements (where permitted by law), and referral to law enforcement.

1. Lawful Use

You must use RentGuard only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable Nigerian laws and regulations, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act, tenancy laws of the relevant state, and anti-money-laundering rules.

2. Prohibited Listings

  • Properties you do not own, manage, or have written authority to list.
  • Duplicate, misleading, or materially inaccurate listings (wrong address, fake photos, incorrect rent, undisclosed occupants).
  • Properties that violate zoning, health, or safety regulations.
  • Short-let or hotel-style listings unless explicitly permitted by us in writing.
  • Discriminatory listings that exclude tenants on the basis of tribe, religion, gender, disability, marital status, or any other protected characteristic.

3. Prohibited Conduct

  • Requesting, offering, or accepting off-platform payments to bypass Paystack settlement, fees, or KYC.
  • Impersonating another person, submitting forged identity documents, or falsifying NIN, BVN, or utility records.
  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, stalking, or intimidation of any user, lawyer, inspector, or staff member.
  • Sharing another user's personal information without consent.
  • Coordinating fake inspections, staged disputes, or collusive reviews.

4. Financial and Fraud Prohibitions

  • Money laundering, sanctions evasion, or funding of illegal activities.
  • Use of stolen cards, unauthorised bank accounts, or third-party wallets.
  • Initiating chargebacks in bad faith after receiving keys or services.
  • Payout account manipulation, including submitting subaccount details you do not own.

5. Platform Integrity

  • Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of our systems without prior written authorisation.
  • Scraping, crawling, or bulk-extracting listings, tenant data, or lawyer information.
  • Uploading malware, viruses, or any code intended to disrupt the service.
  • Bypassing rate limits, authentication, or access controls.
  • Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or attempting to derive source code from the platform.

6. Content Standards

  • No sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise unlawful media in listings, messages, or profile fields.
  • No content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property rights.
  • No spam, unsolicited advertising, or referral schemes outside official RentGuard programmes.

7. Communication Rules

All tenant–landlord–lawyer communication about a specific booking must occur through RentGuard where a channel is provided. Do not solicit tenants or landlords to leave the platform. Do not send bulk SMS or email using contact details obtained through the service.

8. Reporting Violations

Report suspected violations to trust@vouchzen.com. Include the listing ID, user handle, and any supporting evidence. Reports are treated confidentially.

9. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations, remove content, place pending Paystack settlements on hold pending resolution, restrict features, or terminate accounts without prior notice where the risk to users or the platform is material. Serious violations will be reported to the Nigeria Police Force, the EFCC, or other relevant authorities.

10. Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, emailappeals@vouchzen.com within 14 days with your account email and a description of the disputed action. We aim to respond within 7 business days.

11. Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
